Edible keto cookie dough

We all love chocolate chip cookie dough straight out of the bowl when we are making cookies. Who cares about raw eggs! Am I the only one that eats enough cookie dough while i'm making cookies that is equivalent to about 5 cookies? I had to make a sugar free and low carb version of Keto Cookie Dough for my cookie loving self...it's one of my favorite Low Carb Desserts!

This simple recipe only requires 5 simple ingredients that you probably have on hand. You can have keto cookie dough at your fingers tips anytime you want a sweet treat!

Ingredients

This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for this keto cookie dough recipe, what each one does in the recipe, and substitution options. For a printable recipe, see therecipe card below.

6ouncesCream Cheese, Softened - You can use full fat or reduced fat cream cheese for this recipe. The cream cheese provides the bulk of the keto cookie dough. I know a lot of recipes would use almond flour or coconut flour because that's what is used in keto chocolate chip cookies, but I prefer this as it is a smooth texture instead of a grainy texture from the almond flour.

5TablespoonsButter, Softened - I like to use salted butter. You could also use softened coconut oil or ghee!

2TablespoonsGranular Sweetener - A monk fruit and erythritol blend works well. You can also use allulose.

½teaspoonsVanilla extract

½CupSugar free Chocolate Chips - When we think of cookie dough, it is usually chocolate chip cookies. I like to use Lily's semi-sweet chocolate chips for this keto chocolate chip cookie dough. You could also use dark chocolate chips.

How to make keto cookie dough

This section explains how to make this keto edible cookie dough recipe, step by step. For a full printable recipe, see therecipe card below.

Step 1: Mix together the cream cheese, butter, sweetener and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl with a mixer.

Step 2: Fold in the chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.

Step 3: Transfer to an airtight container and keep refrigerated. You can also portions this recipe into cookie dough balls or fat bombs to make them bite sized so they are easy to grab and go.

Pro tip:

  • Portion the cookie dough using a cookie scoop or a spoon and place each portion on a lined baking sheet. Flash freeze the keto cookie dough bites for 1 hour, then remove from the baking sheet and place them in an airtight container or a freezer bag. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw each piece for a few minutes and eat!

Love this recipe, Jennifer! Sometimes I will add a small handful of chopped pecans (coarsely chopped) to add a extra little punch. Like you, I also love the smooth texture and that it is not dependent on the almond flour.

I’ve tried a number of keto cookie dough recipes….thrilled to find this one and give it a go! I find that it best replicates original cookie dough. I find others that include coconut or almond flour to be too gritty for my liking. The only thing I tweaked was the amount, …. Since cream cheese typically comes in 8 oz blocks, I found it easier to just use that amount and then add a smidge more of the other ingredients…. I keep in the fridge and when the sweet monster comes knocking, I have an instant “go to” goodie! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

I use Kily's Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel chips, and they're incredible! I've also added Lily's dark choc chips into the dough, along with the choc sea salt ones, and that's fabulous, too!

This is delicious? Although I would not compare the taste to cookie dough, but rather to cheesecake. Regardless, it is delicious with strawberries! I was looking for something sweet while on keto and this is so yummy that I have already made another batch!! Thank you! Also, for the sweetener I used Lakanto golden. Yummy!

Absolutely love this recipe. I was never one who craved sweets, until I met my boyfriend. Then we had to have some kind of sweet in the evening. After he passed, I kept that tradition up. Now that I am back to losing weight, this recipe has helped me so much with that sugar craving. Even one spoon full helps.

Been on keto for a week and i love this recipe, rich and hits the spot when the sweet tooth craving hits, i didn't have lily's dark choc chips so i cut up a block of 95% dark chocolate, they came out looking like cookies and cream icecream! tastes like cheesecake truffle. going to add cinnamon next time 🙂 thank you for the great recipe.

This has become my favorite keto dessert recipe and a great way to bust sugar cravings! I prefer to make this then let it chill in the fridge over night. The consistency becomes much more dough like! Great job!! ❤️❤️

Not bad, but shouldn't be called edible cookie dough when it's nothing like cookie dough. Should be called cheesecake bombs or something

When I put this in my fitness pal (even without choc. chips), it says there are 7 carbs. What am I missing since this says it’s only 3?

    Reply

    • jenniferbanz says

my fitness pal doesn't deduct erythritol from the carbs which is the sugar alcohol.

Made this last night! Omg good. It last like cheese cake cookie batter. I’ll be honest it’s not exactly like cookie dough, but how could it. It doesn’t have the gritty sugar and flour. I consider my self a pick person on low carb diet and this recipe did the trick for me. No funny after taste... just sweet goodness. Taste even better the next day. Definitely making again. Thank you for the recipe!

Not sure if I would call it a cookie dough when it comes to texture. Doesn't taste bad just doesn't have a dough-like consistency.

    Reply

    • jenniferbanz says

Dough=flour which of is not low carb. sometimes we have to make sacrifices in texture for low carb

      Reply

      • badgrgrrl says

I'm sensitive to texture and I won't eat shirataki or substitute cauliflower for "rice" or "pasta". If there's a way to make this taste AND feel like cookie dough, I'm listening. If it doesn't have the texture, there's no real point; I'll keep looking for something that is dough-like, not just sweetened paste.

      • jenniferbanz says

Then I guess this recipe isn't for you. You will have a tough time finding something with the same texture, as that texture comes from white flour. I miss it, too.

  29. Cailyn says

Made it without the chocolate chips bc I’m weird and always want the sweet soft batter without the hard chocolate chips lol. SUPER SWEET. One could even do one tbsp of stevia and be fine, or take out the vanilla extract. However, I softened my butter and cream cheese (it didn’t begin to melt) and after mixing everything in it turned to an ugly lumpy mush... Still tasted great though(: Thanks for sharing!

Did you use swerve or stevia? If you use stevia you would need much less.

      Reply

      • Shannon says

I am making this tomorrow. If I use stevia how much should I use? I just have stevia packets. Thanks so much!

      • jenniferbanz says

I am not sure about the stevia. I would add one packet at a time and adjust
