What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing. A row of tiny needles make up ablade that is used to make cuts or channels into the skin and form the eyebrow hairs by laying pigment in them. It is considered semi-permanent because the pigment is not placed in the dermis, and is in the epidermiscompared to normal tattooing.

Pigments are used versus conventional tattooing ink. Doremepigments used are specifically for permanent cosmetics usage, and are considered some of the safest, as they do not contain preservatives, carcinogens, or heavy metals. Doreme is the only brand that is used here, and are safety tested by the German Laboratory Dermatest.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What does it consist of? Your initial appointment will be about 2-3 hours. It includes consultation, consent forms review, and a health history. It is strongly recommended that a touch up be done 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment, to obtain beautiful brows that last.

What does it feel like?It is best described as a cat-scratch type feeling and sound. Keep in mind that everyone's perception of pain is different.

Will I be numbed?Melissa prefers to not use pre-numb creams as it makes the skin more difficult to work with. She completes the outline, and then uses an intra-procedure numbing solution to make you more comfortable.

What does the aftercare include? It is very important to follow aftercare instructions as this will help you obtain your desired result. These will be reviewed during your appointment, an aftercare sheet will be sent home with you to follow, and a tube of aftercare ointment. The most difficult part is not getting your new eyebrows wet for 2 weeks while they are healing, as the pigment can be washed away.

How long does it last? It typically lasts 6 months to 1 year before needing a touch up. Everyone's skin is different, and there are multiple factors that contribute to skin cell turn over, such as products used on the skin, skin type, age, and care of the procedure area.

What about allergic reactions?Melissa does offer a patch test of all the products she uses 5-7 days prior to your appointment. It can also be waived on the day of your appointment.

How old do I need to be? You must be 18 in order to be tattooed. NYS Penal Law code 260.21 does not allow tattooing of minors, under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. Two forms of ID will be taken the day of the appointment. No exceptions.

I don't know what shape or color I want?Trusting your artist, Melissa, is the best thing you can do. Explain your goals to her, but shape will be, most often, determined by things such as facial/bone structure, muscles, and skin type. Shape will be drawn on and must be approved by you before the procedure can start. As for color explain your goals, Melissa must take into consideration your skin and undertones, as this will effect the final results.

Is there anything I need to know before my appointment?Do not drink alcohol the day of the procedure. Stop all retin-a/retinol products 1 week prior. Caffeine can increase pain, and it is recommended to not drink any at least 3 hrs prior. No botox for at least 3 weeks before your appointment, but can be complete afterwards.

Booking an appointment: Feel free to call the shop and leave a message or you can directly text/call her at 518-844-2594.
