Hello Friends! I am loving that spring has sprung! This week, we enjoyed a couple of meals al fresco and even made it down to the beach. I love visiting the beach this time of year because the summer crowds have not yet arrived, so it is a little quieter and calmer.
I could just spend hours watching the waves and the sailboats go by. I look forward to many more picnics at the beach in the coming weeks. Now on to one of my favorite tasty recipes.
Cornbread from Cornmeal Ingredients
Just a few basic ingredients are needed for this recipe.
- all purpose flour
- yellow cornmeal (found in the baking aisle of grocery store)
- white sugar
- butter
- large egg
- milk

- round cake pan or cast iron pan or square baking dish
- large bowl or medium bowl
- spoon
How To Make Cornbread from Cornmeal
In a bowl, mix together dry ingredients and add wet ingredients.
Pour the cornbread batter into a prepared pan.
Bake until golden brown

Variations and Substitutions
You can make cornbread muffins from this recipe using a muffin pan.
You can add ½ cup of corn kernels or creamed corn to this recipe. Be sure to bake until toothpick comes out clean.
Serving and Storage Suggstions

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400.
Grease a round or square 8' or 9' baking pan.
In a bowl combine dry ingredients: flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Melt butter and pour into cornmeal mixture.
Beat the egg and add to bowl.
Add milk and blend well.
Pour into greased pan.
Bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

This recipe is very good. I also added 1/2 can of drained whole kernel corn, 1/4 cup of diced pickled jalapenos, & 1/2 cup of sour cream. Awesome!Reply
